Juan Francisco de Molina

Juan Francisco de Molina (* 1779; † 1878 in Tegucigalpa ) was Director Supremo of Honduras from January 9, 1839 to April 13, 1839 . He was a member of the Partido Liberal de Honduras

A constituent assembly met in Comayagua on October 10, 1838 and published a secessionist constitution on January 11, 1839. According to her, the legislative power was exercised by a popularly elected parliament. 20,000 residents elect a representative. The executive power is led by a president who is elected by the people every two years.

Juan Francisco de Molina was a delegate to this constituent assembly, on January 9, 1839, José Lino Matute gave him the office of Jefe Supremo of the province of Honduras. On January 11, 1839, he ordered the constitution to be published and thus put into effect.

He was a signatory of the Declaration of Independence of Honduras from the Central American Confederation .

On October 26, 1838, under the provincial government of José María Martinez Salinas , Honduras declared itself a separate state. Francisco Ferrera commanded the troops of Honduras in the conflict with the federal government under José Francisco Morazán Quezada to which the separation of Honduras led. On April 5, 1839, his troops and those of Nicaragua were defeated by the forces of Morazán at the Battle of Espíritu Santo in El Salvador. On September 25, 1839, the troops of Honduras were surprised in San Pedro Perulapán and Francisco Ferrera injured, whereupon he fled to Nicaragua .
