José Luis Gómez (born April 19, 1940 in Huelva ) is a Spanish actor and director.

Life

Jose Luis Gomez is best known in Germany for the Spanish language course " Hablamos Español ". Gómez made his film debut in the television film The Accident from 1968. For his portrayal in the movie Pascual Duarte (1976), he was honored as best actor at the Cannes Film Festival, and he was also nominated for the Sant Jodi Awards.

Also in the 1980s Gómez took part in several films, which brought him nominations and awards. In 1989 Gómez was nominated as best supporting actor in Remando al viento at the Spanish Goya film award . Gómez made his debut as a director with Absalón in 1986, but the television film has remained the only one he has directed to this day.

More recently, he has starred in films such as Goya's Ghosts and received a nomination for the Award of the Spanish Actors Union for Best Supporting Actor in the 2009 film Broken Hugs .
