José Luis García Ramón
José Luis García Ramón (born September 21, 1949 in Alicante ) is a Spanish Graecist and linguist .
Life and research
After receiving his doctorate ( Sustratos y superestratos en los dialectos griegos. Tesalia y el protoeolio ) at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 1974, he was Professor Titular for Greek Philology from 1978 to 1988 and Full Professor of Greek Philology at the Universidad Autónoma de from 1988 to 1995 Madrid . In 1995 he moved to the University of Cologne to a full professorship for historical-comparative linguistics in the Institute for Linguistics. He has accepted numerous invitations to guest seminars and visiting professorships at home and abroad and is a member of various learned societies.
García Ramón works on the morphosyntax of the verb and on vocabulary , etymology , onomastics and poetry . In the field of Indo-European Reconstruction, García Ramón focuses his attention on Greek (and its Mycenaean language level ), Latin and Italian languages , Indo-Iranian languages and the Anatolian languages .
