José Luis Pérez Caminero (born November 8, 1967 in Madrid ) is a former Spanish football player . His traditional position was the central midfield .

career

Caminero began his football career at Real Madrid . With the Madrilenians he made it into the squad of the second team Castilla CF , the first team he never reached. In the summer of 1989 he moved to Real Valladolid . In 1991/92 his team was relegated, but the following year they were able to return to the Primera División , not least thanks to the strong performance of Caminero . After the fourth season with the Castilians, he finally moved to Atlético Madrid in the summer of 1993. With these he quickly became a fixture in midfield and finally celebrated winning the championship and the cup in the 1995/96 season . In 1998 he returned to Real Valladolid, where he stayed until he retired in 2004.

Caminero played the finals of the 1994 World Cup and the 1996 European Football Championship with Spain .

After the active career

In the summer of 2011, he succeeded Jesús García Pitarch as sports director at Atlético Madrid, where he was already a player.
