José María Guido
José María Guido (born August 29, 1910 in Buenos Aires , † June 13, 1975 there ) was an Argentine politician and de facto President of Argentina from March 30, 1962 to October 12, 1963.
Political career
In 1958 he was elected to the Senate for the province of Río Negro and represented the UCRI party there. He was appointed Interim President of the Senate, making him the first to succeed to the office of State President following the resignation of Vice President Alejandro Gómez . After the Peronists won the election , the military removed President Arturo Frondizi , who had legalized the Peronists, and, with the support of the Supreme Court, allowed Guido to take office. From March 30, 1962 to October 12, 1963, Guido was de facto President of Argentina and the only civilian who took office in Argentina due to a military coup. His successor in office was Arturo Umberto Illia .
