José María Orellana Pinto (1921)

José María Orellana Pinto (born July 11, 1872 in El Jícaro , † September 26, 1926 in Antigua Guatemala ) was Guatemalan President from December 10, 1921 to September 26, 1926 .

Life

His parents were Leonor Pinto and Esteban Orellana.

His predecessor Herrera refused to expand the United Fruit Company's concessions . Calvin Coolidge intervened.

General Orellana led a command with Generals José María Lima and Miguel Larrave and had Herrera overthrown. Orellana declared a state of emergency in May 1922 and had the printing works of the daily newspapers El Día and El imparcial confiscated. In 1924 he moved to the emission of quetzales the Banco Central de Guatemala reasons. During his tenure, the Escuela Normal Superior was founded and more than 500 kilometers of roads were built.
