José María Vigil

José María Vigil CMF (* 1946 in Saragossa ) is a Spanish liberation theologian who lives in Panama . He is known for his activities on the Internet, his work for the Association of Third World Theologians , for his work on spirituality and, for several years, for dealing with the theology of religious pluralism .

Life

Vigil studied theology in Salamanca and Rome , and psychology in Salamanca, Madrid and Managua . He is a member of the Congregation of Claretian Missionaries and was ordained a priest in 1971. He oversees the Internet portal Servicios Koinonia, which is important in Spanish-speaking countries, publishes the Agenda Latinoamericana yearbook and heads the theological commission of EATWOT .

In 2008 the Faith Commission of the Spanish Bishops' Conference published a "Nota" criticizing a book on theology of religious pluralism.
