José Perácio Berjun (born November 2, 1917 in Nova Lima , Minas Gerais , † March 10, 1977 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Brazilian football player .

Career

José Perácio started his career at Villa Nova AC from his hometown. He played mainly for two of the four big clubs from Rio de Janeiro , the Botafogo FR and CR Flamengo. For Flamengo he is said to have scored 97 goals in 123 games. His game was characterized by the fact that he was considered strong with both feet.

National team

In the national team, Hércules was used in four games of the 1938 World Cup . He got other missions at the Copa Roca 1939 and the Copa Río Branco 1940. In the quarter-final against the selection of Czechoslovakia , their goalkeeper František Plánička tried to keep a shot from Perácio. The strength of the shot threw Plánička off balance and hit the post. This broke his left arm and collarbone .

Trivia

Perácio was part of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force in Europe . At the Battle of Monte Castello Perácio was in action as driver of Brigadier General Oswaldo Cordeiro de Farias .
