José Renato Salazar Acosta (* in Bogotá , Colombia ) is a diplomat from Colombia. He studied civil engineering, specializing in international relations, at the University of Villa del Rosario .

In the 1990s, Acosta was first secretary at the Permanent Mission of Colombia to the United Nations in Geneva .

From 2013, Acosta was the Colombian ambassador to Morocco .

On August 26, 2016, Acosta was appointed Colombian Ambassador to Indonesia . Acosta began his service in Jakarta on October 4th with the presentation of his accreditation to President Joko Widodo . On January 13, 2017, Acosta presented its accreditation as Colombian Ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to Secretary General Lê Lương Minh . On July 11, 2017, he was additionally appointed Colombian ambassador for East Timor . Acosta presented its accreditation for East Timor to President Francisco Guterres on October 10, 2017 . Acosta's official seat was still Jakarta .

After his tenure in Southeast Asia ended, Acosta became director of multilateral political affairs at the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2018.
