Lê Lương Minh (2013)

Lê Lương Minh (born September 1, 1952 in Thanh Hóa ) is a Vietnamese politician and diplomat . He is married and has two daughters.

From 1975 he worked in the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs after graduating from the Institute for Foreign Affairs in Hanoi and Jawaharlal Nehru University .

Since February 17, 2004 he has been the UN ambassador for Vietnam in New York ; he held this office from 1995 to 1997 for the UN institutions in Geneva and as a deputy in New York City from 1997 to 1999. From January 7, 2013 to December 31, 2017 he was Secretary General of ASEAN .
