Jose Migel Barandiaran
Jose Miguel Barandiaran Aierbe , also known as on Joxemiel Barandiaran (born December 31, 1889 - December 21, 1991 ) was a Basque anthropologist , ethnographer and priest .
He was the youngest of nine children of Francisco Antonio Barandiaran and María Antonia Ayerbe from Ataun . Advocated by his mother, he enjoyed a religious education in Baliarrain and was ordained a priest in Burgos in 1914 .
Shortly after his ordination, he began ethnological studies of Basque culture and archeology in the Sierra de Aralar . He dealt with traditions and collected stories from Basque mythology .
