Josef A. Schmid

Josef A. Schmid (born May 7, 1951 in Ferlach , Austria ) is a German automobile manager. From 2009 to 2016 he was CEO of Mazda Motors Germany.

Josef A. Schmid grew up in Passau. Josef Schmid has been with Mazda Austria since 1973. Initially as a PR manager, then as a marketing manager, later in developing the CSEE markets, from 2006 to 2009 as managing director of the Klagenfurt-based sales region, which recently expanded to 15 markets. From 2009 to 2016 he was CEO at Mazda Motors Germany. Under his leadership, the brand has succeeded in increasing sales of the brand in Germany by more than 43 percent since 2012.
