Josef Emminger
Josef Emminger , also Joseph Emminger ( 1804 - December 27, 1872 in Prague ) was an Austrian opera singer ( tenor ).
Life
His first major engagement was in Prague, which also remained his last, namely he joined the association of this institute and stayed there until his retirement in 1862.
On January 13, 1834, he sang "Gomez" in the world premiere of the opera Das Nachtlager in Granada .
He was a lyric and heroic tenor of extraordinary strength and perseverance, and no matter how busy he was, he always put his husband on. He helped quite a few operatic novelties to success with his sympathetic sonorous organ. “There were times,” reports Oscar Teuber in his “History of the Prague Theater”, “in which four tenors were present, but the always reliable one that never failed, but remained Emminger.” The artist spent ten years in well-deserved retirement and died on December 27, 1872 in Prague.
