Josef Grubmüller is a former German skeleton athlete .

Josef Grubmüller was one of the best German skeleton pilots in the first half of the 1970s. At the German championships, which were held in Königssee throughout the decade , he won two titles. His first title win in 1971 was also the first time since 1938 to win the German Championship. Grubmüller thus succeeded F. Herborn, the master craftsman of the year 1938. He won for the second time in 1974, where he was the only skeleton pilot to interrupt Rudi Häusler's winning streak, which lasted from 1973 to 1979 , and relegated him to second place. At the Bavarian Championships, Grubmüller came third in 1971, won the title in 1973 and came second in 1974.
