Josef Handler

Josef Handler (born May 4, 1927 in Eisenstadt ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Handler was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1964 to 1975 . Handler is married.

Handler was born as the son of the coachman and later truck driver Johann Handler from Eisenstadt and first attended elementary school. Afterwards he was employed in three classes at the commercial business school in Eisenstadt and subsequently as a commercial clerk. From 1944 to 1945 he served in the German Wehrmacht and became a French prisoner of war.

Handler studied from 1954 to 1955 at the Social Academy in Vienna and was regional director of the Socialist Youth . He worked from 1954 to 1955 as an employee of the ÖGB and from 1965 to 1964 was secretary of the Burgenland Chamber of Labor and head of the training and education department. In local politics, Handler was active as a councilor from 1955 and as a councilor in Eisenstadt from 1963. He also wrote from 1966 to 1975 in the Burgenland Freedom .

Handler was a member of the SPÖ in the Burgenland Landtag between May 26, 1964 and January 27, 1975 and then had to retire due to illness.
