Josef Herold (born October 22, 1850 in Prague ; † May 4, 1908 there ) was a Czech lawyer and politician.
Life
As a student of law, he already took part in social life by founding Beseda and Sokol in the Vršovice district of Prague . After completing his studies, he was elected to the local council and soon took up the office of mayor. In 1881 he opened his office in Vinohrady and was also elected to the local council.
His name then appears in the national party of freethinkers ( Mladočeši , German Young Bohemia), which he represented in the Bohemian state parliament from 1883 and in the Imperial Council from 1888 . The agile speaker represented the interests of his party until his death. In 1884, together with Josef Kaizl , Karel Kramář , Gustav Eim , Bedřich Pacák and other authors, he wrote the Nymburg resolution of the Young Bohemia, with which the party professed its constructive opposition.
