Gustav Eim (born October 7, 1849 in Šťáhlavy near Rokycany , † February 7, 1897 in Florence ) was a Bohemian - Czech journalist and politician .

Life

In 1874 he was editor of the National Sheets ( Národní listy ) and wrote in 1879 as a correspondent in Vienna and parliamentary observers on the passive Czech national policy. In 1891 he was elected to parliament himself, where his sharp pen and fiery parliamentary speeches became legendary. Together with Josef Kaizl and Karel Kramář , he embodied the moderate political wing of the Young Czech Party in the 1990s , which advocated further cooperation with the Austrian monarchy .

J. Kaizl characterized Eim as follows: “The most skilful, farsighted, human weaknesses and thought-calculating, practical Czech politician. The most sophisticated intriguer on a grand scale, personally inaccessible and honest ”.

He published a collection of his published articles from 1848 to 1879 in the book About Us - For Us (O nás - pro nás).
