Josef Kontny

Josef Kontny (born April 25, 1963 in Kaufbeuren ) is a former German ice hockey goalkeeper who played for ESV Kaufbeuren in the first and for EC Kassel in the second Bundesliga for many years .

Career

Kontny began his career in 1981 in his hometown with ESV Kaufbeuren , for whom he played in the ice hockey Bundesliga until 1986 . For the 1986/87 season he moved to EV Landshut , where he was only rarely used behind goalkeeper Bernhard Englbrecht .

In 1989 he moved to the EC Kassel in the league and rose with Kassel in the same season in the 2nd Bundesliga . Five years later, the EC Kassel, which was renamed "Kassel Huskies" when the DEL was founded , rose to the top German division, the DEL. At that time he was called "Sepp the Witcher" because of his outstanding performance in Kassel and was voted the team's best player in both 1990 and 1991. He has not played since 1996 due to many injuries, but officially ended his career in 1999.
