Josef Loibl (* 1939 in Schönbrunn ) is a German singer ( bass ) and singing teacher.

Life

For many years, Josef Loibl was a full professor of singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz . At the same time he was leading a singing class as an honorary professor at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . Numerous, now prominent singers, have been taught and shaped by Loibl, such as Mihoko Fujimura , Annette Dasch and Violeta Urmana. Even today, J. Loibl still looks after many well-known singers, especially in productions of the challenging stage works by Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi, as well as in professional changes.

As a singer, his focus was on the interpretation of songs. With his companions, u. a. Hermann Reutter , Erik Werba , Jörg Demus , Helmut Deutsch, Norman Shetler and Fabio Luisi , he developed numerous programs, most of which were also published on sound carriers. In the oratorio subject, Loibl served the entire repertoire from the baroque to the modern. Josef Loibl won prizes at international competitions as a lieder and oratorio singer.

Loibl's voice was trained by Karl Schmitt-Walter (1900–1985). His technique is based in many areas on the physiological findings of Frederick Husler and Yvonne Rodd-Marling.
