Josef Modl (politician)

Josef Modl (born May 12, 1931 in Bärnbach ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and glassmaker. Modl was a member of the National Council from 1975 to 1984 .

After completing compulsory school, Modl attended the Volkswirtschaftsschule Graz for nine months and from 1948 worked as a glassmaker in the Oberglas glass factory in Bärnbach. He became involved as a local councilor in Bärnbach from 1960 and was local party chairman of the SPÖ Bärnbach from 1963 to 1965. Before that, he had been a socialist youth functionary and youth functionary in the Austrian Trade Union Federation from 1950 , in 1957 he rose to the works council and in 1959 to the works council chairman. After taking over the function of the central works council of Oberglas in 1963, he was a member of the supervisory board of Stölzle-Oberglas AG and represented the SPÖ in the National Council from November 4, 1975 to September 30, 1984.
