Political career

On January 1st, 2003 Josef Moosbrugger was sworn in for the first time as a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament. For the ÖVP parliamentary group he took over the function of the area spokesman for security and community politics in the state parliament of the 29th legislative period . The trained farmer was also deputy chairman of the agricultural committee and a member of the finance committee, the culture and education committee, the legal committee and the ombudsman committee. In the run-up to the 2014 state elections , Moosbrugger announced that he would no longer run for the state parliament, which is why he resigned from the state parliament on October 15, 2014 when the new state parliament members were sworn in.

Since 1995 Moosbrugger has also been the mayor of his home town of Bizau. In the run-up to the municipal council and mayoral elections in Vorarlberg in 2010 , however, he announced that he no longer wanted to run for the office of mayor of Bizau. 25 years of community work, 15 of which as mayor are enough in his opinion, said Moosbrugger in an interview. The subsequent search for a successor turned out to be difficult. On April 8, 2010, Josef Bischofberger was elected mayor of the municipality of Bizau.

On April 27, 2010 Josef Moosbrugger received the Great Merit of the State of Vorarlberg.
