List of members of the Vorarlberg state parliament (XXIXth legislative period)
This list provides an overview of the members of the XXIX. Vorarlberg Landtag in the legislative period from 2009 to 2014.
The 29th Vorarlberg Landtag was sworn in at the constituent session on October 14, 2009. On September 20 of the same year, the election to the Vorarlberg state parliament took place (see also state election in Vorarlberg 2009 ).
Landtag Presidium
The Presidium of the State Parliament is composed of the President of the State Parliament and her two Vice-Presidents. The task of the Presidium is to lead the sessions of the state parliament and to represent the Vorarlberg state parliament externally.
In the 29th legislative period of the Vorarlberg Landtag, Bernadette Mennel (ÖVP) was the first woman to be elected President of the Vorarlberg Landtag. Gabriele Nussbaumer (ÖVP) and Ernst Hagen (FPÖ) were appointed as vice-presidents. During the legislative period there was a change in the composition of the Landtag Presidium after Mennel moved to the Vorarlberg provincial government on November 14, 2012 as State Councilor. Gabriele Nussbaumer became the new President of the State Parliament, Heinz Peter Ritter (ÖVP) her successor as Vice President.
The group chairmen of the four state parliament clubs also belong to the enlarged presidium. Together they form an advisory body that assists the President of the State Parliament in drawing up the agendas and determining the times of the meetings.
Officials / assessors
Every session of the state parliament is attended by two non-attached officials who monitor the orderly business of the Vorarlberg state parliament. The state parliament director is the secretary of each meeting and the state office director is entitled to participate as the highest-ranking official of the office of the Vorarlberg state government. Neither the state office director nor the state parliament director have a right to vote in the Vorarlberg state parliament. Johannes Müller was appointed State Office Director until 2010, followed by Günther Eberle in his position. Peter Bußjäger held the office of Landtag director until 2012, his successor was Borghild Goldgruber-Reiner on January 1, 2013 .
In addition, all members of the Vorarlberg state government are entitled to participate, but not vote, in the sessions of the state parliament. This is to ensure that the executive body , which has to implement resolutions of the state parliament, is accountable to this legislative body .
MPs
36 MPs from 4 parties are represented in the 29th Vorarlberg state parliament. These are the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), the Greens and the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ).
The Vorarlberg state parliament is also entitled to send 3 representatives to the Federal Council in Vienna. In the 29th legislative period, these were Federal Councilors Magnus Brunner (ÖVP), Edgar Mayer (ÖVP) and Cornelia Michalke (FPÖ).
