Magnus Brunner
Magnus Oswald Brunner (born May 6, 1972 in Höchst , Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Brunner has been State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology since January 7, 2020 . From 2009 to 2020 he was a member of the Austrian Federal Council sent from the state of Vorarlberg . Brunner is CEO of OeMAG Abwicklungsstelle für Ökostrom AG .
Career
After graduating from the Collegium Bernardi , Magnus Brunner first studied law at the University of Innsbruck . He has been a member of the AV Austria Innsbruck in the ÖCV since 1990 . In 1996 he received his doctorate from Innsbruck University with a dissertation on the subject of the scope of medical confidentiality to become a doctor of law ( Dr. iur. ) And then completed post-graduate studies at King's College London . In the state election campaign for the state elections in Vorarlberg in 1999 , Brunner organized the platform “Vorarlberg for LH Sausgruber ” as a trainee for the Federation of Industrialists . Then he was office manager and press spokesman for the governor for three years until 2002. During this time he was also active as a member of the local council for the ÖVP in his home town of Höchst .
After his time in regional politics, Brunner was appointed political director of the Austrian Economic Association from 2002 to 2006 . He then moved to the Illwerke / VKW Group in Bregenz as Head of Corporate Development and Corporate Communications . Since January 1st, 2007 Magnus Brunner has been a member of the board of directors of OeMAG - the processing agency for green electricity .
Since 2004, Brunner was a substitute member of the Austrian Federal Council at the same time as his other duties. On May 8, 2009, Brunner took over the function of Vorarlberg member of the Federal Council from former Federal Councilor Jürgen Weiss , who resigned from this office on April 30. From April 2018 he was Vice President of the Federal Council.
In January 2020 Magnus Brunner was proposed as State Secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment for the new Federal Government Brief II and on January 7, 2020, he was sworn in with the members of the Federal Government by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen .
Family life
Magnus Brunner is married and has three sons. He lives in the Vorarlberg state capital Bregenz .
