Josef Brunner (born August 16, 1959 in Klösterle ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and insurance salesman. Brunner was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from 2009 to 2014 .

Education and personal life

Josef Brunner was born on August 16, 1959 in the Klostertal municipality of Klösterle as the son of the railway auditor Josef Brunner and his wife Rosa Maria. He attended the 8-year-old elementary school in Klösterle and then completed an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic at the Josef Martin company in Braz, where he also passed the journeyman's examination. After completing military service with the Austrian Armed Forces in Innsbruck and Absam, he subsequently worked as a precision mechanic journeyman at the Josef Martin company until 1983.

Josef Brunner then completed an apprenticeship as an insurance salesman at the Economic Development Institute of the State of Vorarlberg in Dornbirn, where he also passed his final apprenticeship examination as an insurance salesman. From 1984 to 1987 he was then employed by Nürnberger Versicherung in Bregenz. Josef Brunner has been self-employed as an insurance salesman since 1987.

Josef Brunner is divorced, has two children and lives in the Wald am Arlberg district in Dalaas .

Political career

Josef Brunner has been a member of the Freedom Party of Austria since 1988, and was first elected to the Dalaas municipal council in 2000 . At the same time, Brunner was accepted into the community council and was elected mayor of Wald am Arlberg. He held all three functions until 2002 and, with one interruption, from 2005 to 2010. He was a member of the Dalaas municipal council until the municipal council election in 2015 . Within the party, Josef Brunner has also been the local party chairman of the FPÖ Dalaas and a member of the district party leadership in the Bludenz district since January 2000 . He has also been the district party chairman of the FPÖ since 2008.

In the state elections in 2009 , Josef Brunner was elected for the first time for the FPÖ as a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament. In the 29th legislative period of the state parliament, Brunner was the area spokesman for employees, waste management, hunting and consumer protection in the liberal state parliament club. Already in the run-up to the state elections in 2014 , Brunner announced that he would no longer run for the state parliament and left the state parliament after the election.
