Silvia Benzer

Silvia Benzer (born July 27, 1959 in Hohenems ; born Silvia Halbeisen ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and elementary school director. Benzer was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from 1999 to 2014 .

Education and personal life

Silvia Benzer was born on July 27, 1959 in Hohenems as the daughter of master plumber Edwin Halbeisen and his wife Margit. She grew up in the community of Klaus , where she attended elementary school from 1965 to 1969. From 1969 to 1973 she attended secondary school in Götzis , from 1973 to 1978 at the music and pedagogical secondary school in Feldkirch, where she also graduated in 1978 . From 1978 to 1980, Silvia Benzer finally completed her school education at the Pedagogical Academy Feldkirch .

She subsequently became an elementary school teacher in Götzis (1980–1981) and Schwarzach (1982–1983) and after her parental leave from 1985 to 2002 at the Mähdle elementary school in Wolfurt . She has been the director of the Mähdle elementary school since 2002. She lives in Schwarzach, is divorced and the mother of two children.

Political career

Benzer has been a member of the FPÖ Vorarlberg party since May 1999 and was elected deputy chairman of the Freedom Teachers' Association in Vorarlberg in 2000. She has been its chairwoman since 2004. In addition, she was elected a member of the municipal council in Wolfurt in the municipal council election in 2000. From 2003 to 2009 she was a substitute member of the Wolfurt municipal council. Within the party, Silvia Benzer also achieved a number of functions. Since October 2000 she has been the district party leader in the Bregenz district , and also deputy state leader of the Vorarlberg Freedom Women. In 1999 she became a member of both the state party executive and the state party leadership.

In the 1999 state elections in Vorarlberg , Benzer was elected for the first time as a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament. After she was re-elected in 2004 and 2009, Silvia Benzer became the deputy chairwoman of the state parliamentary club in the 29th legislative period in October 2009. In addition, she was the FPÖ's area spokesperson for women, schools and education as well as science during this legislative period.

After the state elections in 2014 , in which Silvia Benzer was no longer running, she left the new state parliament on October 15, 2014.
