The Vorarlberg University of Education is a university of education in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . At the Feldkirch location, it offers bachelor's and, in the future, also master’s courses for teaching at primary and secondary levels, including the upper level, organizes advanced and advanced training for around 6000 teachers from all types of schools in Vorarlberg, and trains recreational teachers. Practical schools at the University of Education enable students to experience teaching in primary and secondary levels.

The PH Vorarlberg was founded on September 29, 2007 under Rector Ivo Brunner , the official full operation started on October 1, 2007. The predecessor institution of the University of Education was the Federal Education Academy in Vorarlberg, which was in the same building in Feldkirch as the PH as well as the educational institute of the state of Vorarlberg and the educational institute of the federal government in Vorarlberg.

Course offer

  • Primary level course : The course is divided into a bachelor's degree (8 semesters) and a master's degree (at least 2 semesters). Priorities are chosen in the bachelor's degree. The degree entitles you to teach pupils from grades 1 to 4 at an elementary school. An accompanied year of practical experience introduces the profession.
  • General education secondary course : The course is divided into a bachelor’s degree (8 semesters) and a master’s degree (4 semesters). In the bachelor's degree, two subjects or one subject and one specialization are chosen. All subjects and several specializations can be studied together. The degree entitles pupils in the 5th to 13th grade to teach in the subjects completed. An accompanied year of practical experience introduces the profession.
  • Secondary Vocational Education and Training Course : The Bachelor’s course “Dual Training as well as Technology and Trade” entitles you to study at vocational schools. The bachelor's degree "Subject-related studies complementary studies" is aimed at people who want to teach at vocational middle and higher schools.

Training offer

The advanced training events for state and federal teachers include around 350 to 400 one-day and multi-day courses per semester.

The continuing education offer includes various courses and university courses.

The University Council consists of five members who are or were active in responsible positions in society, in particular in education, (vocational) training and science and who, thanks to their excellent knowledge and experience, contribute to the achievement of the goals and tasks of the educationalist University can afford.
