Erwin Niederwieser

Erwin Niederwieser (born February 2, 1951 in Lienz ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and a former member of the Austrian National Council .

Life

After graduating from the humanistic grammar school at the Don Bosco grammar school Unterwaltersdorf in 1970, Niederwieser studied law and education at the University of Innsbruck . In 1975 he was promoted to Dr. iur., 1983 Dr. phil. PhD.

Niederwieser worked as a legal intern and candidate for a judge's office and, in his youth, also in less dazzling professions such as house servants, postmen, unskilled workers or nurses. Since 1975 Niederwieser has been head of the educational policy department of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Tyrol. There he was on partial leave while he was in office.

Political offices

Niederwieser began his political career as Vice Mayor of Völs . He held this office from 1986 to 1990. From 1994 to 2012 he was district party chairman of the SPÖ Innsbruck-Land and a member of the state party executive.

From November 5, 1990 to October 27, 2008, Niederwieser was a member of the National Council. Most recently he was education spokesman for the SPÖ, deputy chairman of the teaching committee and a member of the teaching, science and main committee. In the national elections in autumn 2008, Erwin Niederwieser was no longer a candidate.
