Josef Mick

Josef Mick (born February 2, 1914 in Cologne , † July 24, 1978 in Kerpen ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending school, Mick completed an apprenticeship and became a printer. He then went on a professional tour of Germany and other European countries. He took part in World War II as a soldier from 1939 to 1945 , was deployed as an infantryman and wounded four times. After the end of the war he worked as a state social secretary in the Rhineland .

Political party

Mick joined the Windthorstbund in 1930 , was a member of the Kolping Family and district chairman of the Catholic Workers' Movement (KAB) since 1932 . He joined the CDU in 1946 and was elected deputy chairman of the CDU Rhineland. From 1963 to 1975 he was chairman of the CDA social committees of the Rhineland, having previously been their state social secretary.

Mick was from 1952 to 1957 council member of the city of Cologne and there since 1956 deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1976. He was always drawn into parliament via the state list of the CDU North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1957 to 1976 he was chairman of the Bundestag committee on war damage and persecution damage, from 1969 to 1972 then chairman of the Bundestag committee on urban development and housing.
