Gabriele Sprickler-Falschlunger was born on August 21, 1956 as the daughter of Karl and Erna Falschlunger in Bregenz and grew up in Dornbirn . In her hometown she attended elementary school and grammar school, where she graduated in 1975 . Political career

Gabriele Sprickler-Falschlunger, who has been a member of the Social Democratic Party of Austria since 1999, began her political career in 2000 as city ​​representative and city councilor in her hometown of Dornbirn. During her tenure as city councilor from 2000 to 2009, she was responsible for the integration and schools departments in Dornbirn.

After the state elections in Vorarlberg in 2009 , in which the SPÖ suffered heavy losses, Sprickler-Falschlunger moved up as second on the state list in the Vorarlberg state parliament. There she took over the function of area spokesperson for social affairs and care, health, senior citizens, integration, culture, education, science, family and Europe in the social democratic group. In the 29th Vorarlberg state parliament she was a member of the Europe Committee, the Integration Committee, the Culture and Education Committee and the Social Policy Committee. On the occasion of the 41st state party conference of the SPÖ Vorarlberg on November 4, 2011, she was elected as one of the party's deputy state party leaders with 100 percent of the votes cast. In the state elections in Vorarlberg in 2014 Sprickler-Falschlunger, who ran for second place on the SPÖ state list, was re-elected to the Vorarlberg state parliament. In the 30th legislative period of the Vorarlberg state parliament, she is the area spokeswoman for the SPÖ club for health, care, senior citizens, education, women, integration, culture, science, animal welfare and Europe. In March 2017, she was elected as the successor to Michael Ritsch as the state party leader of the SPÖ Vorarlberg, although she had previously held this office since September 2016. In June 2018, Martin Staudinger was nominated by the extended state party executive as her successor in this function and was finally elected by the state party conference on September 20, 2018.

After the state elections in 2019 , she left the state parliament.

Private life

Sprickler-Falschlunger is divorced and has a daughter. She lives in Dornbirn . She is a practicing general practitioner and the daughter of long-time SPÖ state party chairman Karl Falschlunger .
