Martin Helmut Staudinger (born June 22, 1979 in Hard ) is a social democratic politician in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . On September 20, 2018, he took over the chairmanship of the SPÖ Vorarlberg from Gabriele Sprickler-Falschlunger and is the SPÖ top candidate in the Vorarlberg state election in 2019 .

Studies and professional career

Staudinger studied political science at the University of Vienna (doctorate and master's degree) and economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (master's degree), is single and has no children. As a Viennese SPÖ functionary, he organized the Danube Canal Drift Festival for the first time in 2007.

Staudinger worked for seven years in the cabinet of Rudolf Hundstorfer , district manager of the SPÖ Vienna-Innere Stadt, and has headed the Vorarlberg regional office of the Ministry of Social Affairs since October 2015. He is responsible for funding in the disabled and care sector.

Political career

During his studies in Vienna, Staudinger was involved in the Association of Socialist Students in Austria (VSStÖ) and was the financial advisor for the Austrian Students' Union at the University of Vienna . He became a member of the “Vienna Committee” of the SPÖ Vienna and in November 2006 he was a district councilor for the SPÖ Vienna in the first district of Vienna and also held the office of deputy club chairman and district manager. In the 2017 National Council election in Austria , he was in a hopeless 362nd place on the SPÖ's federal party list.

In June 2018, Martin Staudinger was nominated as the successor to Gabriele Sprickler-Falschlunger in this role by the extended state party executive of the SPÖ in Vorarlberg . On the occasion of the 42nd state party conference of the SPÖ Vorarlberg on September 20, 2018, he was elected state party chairman with 99.3 percent of the votes cast.

He sees his task in mediating and discussing that less arguments should be given in politics and more topics should be the focus.
