Monika Vonier (born September 15, 1980 in Schruns ; née Monika Nesensohn ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and management consultant. Vonier has been a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament since 2014 and has been the first vice- president of the state parliament since 2019.

education and profession

Monika Vonier was born on September 15, 1980 as the daughter of Anton Nesensohn († 2019) and Helga Nesensohn-Vallaster in Schruns in the Montafon . She attended elementary school in Schruns and the federal high school in Bludenz , where she graduated from high school in 1999 . Then she graduated in 2004, the studies of communication and political science at the University of Salzburg , and became in 2012 the doctorate to the doctor of economic sciences at the University of St. Gallen (Dr.oec. HSG).

In addition, she worked in tourism and industry, including coordinating communications management for Vorarlberger Illwerke for the construction of the major Kopswerk II project . Subsequently, she was responsible for recruiting, personnel development and apprenticeship training at the Illwerke / VKW group in Bregenz. From 2008 she was a member of the management board of Illwerke Tourismus Gesellschaft as authorized signatory and was jointly responsible for the projects “Golmis Research Path”, Alpine Coaster, Flying Fox and the forest rope park on Golm in Montafon.

From 2011 to 2012 she was also the chairwoman of the advisory board of Montafon Tourismus GmbH and from 2008 to 2012 a member of the marketing committee of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce in the cable cars specialist group. In 2012 she started her own business with Vonier Consult , a management consultancy. Vonier has been a member of the supervisory board of Vorarlberger Illwerke AG since June 2015 ( illwerke vkw AG since 2019 ) and a member and deputy chairwoman of the supervisory board of Großwalsertaler Seilbahn Sonntag-Stein GmbH since 2018.

Political career

Monika Vonier has been a party member of the Austrian People's Party since 2009 through her membership in the Economic Association and in the Women's Association , two ÖVP sub-organizations. Since 2009 she has been a member of the state leadership of the women's association in Vorarlberg, since 2010 a member of the state party executive of the ÖVP Vorarlberg and since 2013 a member of the district party leadership of the ÖVP Montafon. After her election to the Vorarlberg state parliament, she was also appointed a member of the regional management of the Economic Association.

In the state elections in Vorarlberg 2014 Monika Vonier ran for the Vorarlberg People's Party in the Bludenz constituency . After the top candidate, Governor Markus Wallner , she was able to obtain the most preferential votes in the constituency and thus obtain a mandate in the Vorarlberg state parliament . Monika Vonier was sworn in as a member for the first time on October 15, 2014. In the state parliament of the 30th legislative period , she took over the function of area spokeswoman for the ÖVP state parliament club for economics and tourism and was elected deputy chairman in the economics committee. On November 6, 2019, she was elected 1st Vice-President of the State Parliament in the constituent session of the 31st legislative period . In the state parliament of the 31st legislative period , she took over the function of the area spokeswoman for the ÖVP state parliament club for economy, tourism and digitization and was elected chairwoman of the finance committee. In addition to the finance committee, she is a member of the economic committee, the energy policy committee, the culture and education committee, the environmental and climate protection committee and a substitute member in six other committees.

Private life

Monika Vonier has been married since June 2011 and is the mother of daughters (* 2015 and 2018). She lives with her family in Schruns.
