Raphael Wichtl

Raphael Wichtl (born November 17, 1992 ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and entrepreneur. Wichtl ran for his party in the state elections in Vorarlberg 2019 on the second place in the state list and was subsequently elected to the Vorarlberg state parliament. In the constituent session of the state parliament of the 31st legislative period on November 6, 2019, he was sworn in as a member.

Career

Raphael Wichtl was born on November 17, 1992 and grew up in the Vorarlberg Lake Constance community of Fußach . He attended the Bundesgymnasium Blumenstrasse in Bregenz and, after completing his civilian service, began studying law at the University of Innsbruck in 2013 . During his school education Wichtl was initially a member of the Catholic middle school association Kustersberg zu Bregenz, in Innsbruck he then became a member of the student association AV Austria Innsbruck .

In 2009 Raphael Wichtl joined the Young People's Party and in 2014 was elected regional chairman for Vorarlberg. On November 11, 2016, Wichtl took over the office of JVP chairman from Julian Fässler at a state assembly of the Young People's Party in Vorarlberg . In the federal JVP, Wichtl has been one of the deputies of Federal Chairman Stefan Schnöll since 2017 .

Since November 2017, Raphael Wichtl has been employed by G4S , a global security company, and since 2019 he has also been an independent entrepreneur and runs an online marketing agency in Dornbirn . In the state elections in Vorarlberg in 2019 , Raphael Wichtl fell short of the Bludenzer candidate Christoph Thoma in his internal party application for first place on the state list , but thanks to the postponement of a mandate from the Bregenz constituency to the state list in the final counting of the votes, he was able to take second place achieve a mandate in the state parliament on the state list. He was therefore sworn in as a member of parliament at the constituent session of the 31st Vorarlberg state parliament on November 6, 2019.
