Christof Bitschi (born April 11, 1991 in Bludenz ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ). Bitschi has been a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament since 2014 and the state party chairman of the Vorarlberg Freedom Party since June 8, 2018 .

Life

Christof Bitschi was born as the son of the project manager Martin Bitschi and his wife Maria in the Vorarlberg district capital Bludenz and grew up in Brand in the Brandnertal. After attending the elementary school in Brand and the music school in Thuringia, he attended the HTL Rankweil from 2005 to 2010 , from which he graduated with a high school diploma. From 2010 to 2011 he completed the military service and in 2011 began studying civil and environmental engineering at the University of Innsbruck .

Christof Bitschi has been Managing Director of Martin Bitschi Transporte GmbH , based in Brand , since 2017 . The company operates in the field of freight transport and earthworks. He is also a member of the supervisory board of Bergbahnen Brandnertal GmbH .

politics

Christof Bitschi joined the Ring of Freedom Youth in 2009 and was elected chairman of the youth organization of the Vorarlberg Freedom Party in 2013. In the state elections in 2014 , Bitschi ran for the Vorarlberg Freedom Party and was elected to the state parliament via the state list. On October 15, 2014, he was sworn in as a member of the state parliament, being the youngest member of the state parliament in the 30th legislative period .

The FPÖ Vorarlberg announced on May 4, 2018 that Christof Bitschi would run as the top candidate in the state elections in Vorarlberg 2019 and at the same time take over the party chairmanship of the state party at a state party conference on June 8, 2018. On June 8, 2018, at the special party conference in Nenzing , he was elected as the successor to Reinhard Bösch with 96.8 percent of the vote as FPÖ state party leader.

In April 2019, Bitschi was also nominated as the top candidate of the FPÖ Vorarlberg for the state elections in autumn 2019 , where the Vorarlberg Freedom Party suffered a significant defeat and lost almost 10 percent of the vote. After the election on November 6th, Bitschi was sworn in again as a member of the state parliament and also took over the chairmanship of the state parliament club of the FPÖ.

Private life

Christof Bitschi is single and lives in Brand, where he is also the local party leader of the FPÖ.
