Barbara Yelin
Barbara Yelin (born July 26, 1977 in Munich ) is a German comic artist who has won several awards in Germany .
Life
Barbara Yelin studied illustration at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences . She first published the comic stories Le visiteur (2004) and Le retard (2006) in France . In German she drew contributions for the anthologies Spring and Pomme d'amour .
She produced her comic Gift about the history of Gesche Gottfried in 2010 based on a scenario by Peer Meter . The Frankfurter Rundschau regularly published its comic strip Rieke's Notes in 2011/2012 . In 2014, Reprodukt Verlag published her story Irmina about a fellow traveler in the time of National Socialism , with which she also worked up a piece of her own family history. From autumn 2015 she published the web comic The summer of her life together with the author Thomas von Steinaecker , which was also published as a book by Reprodukt in 2016. In 2018, Carlsen Verlag published The Unheimlichen Yelins adaptation of The Water Ghost from Harrowby Hall in the Isabel Kreitz series . In cooperation with Alex Rühle , the children's book Gigaguhl und das Riesen-Glück was published by dtv Junior in 2020 .
In 2012 she was appointed to a visiting professorship for comics and graphic novels at the Saar College of Fine Arts. 2013 to 2015 she was a lecturer at the comic seminar in Erlangen . In 2018 she was visiting professor at Grinnell College, Iowa. She has also been teaching at the University of Applied Arts , Vienna, since 2018 .
Yelin was a member of the Berlin Atelier Bilderbureau . She works and lives in Munich.
