Johannes Gasser

Johannes Gerhard Gasser (born April 5, 1991 in Bregenz ) is an Austrian politician ( NEOS ). Gasser ran for his party in the state elections in Vorarlberg 2019 on the second place in the state list and was subsequently elected to the Vorarlberg state parliament. He was sworn in as a member of parliament at the constituent session of the state parliament for the 31st legislative period on November 6, 2019.

Career

Johannes Gasser was born on April 5, 1991 in the Vorarlberg state capital Bregenz and grew up in Mellau in the Bregenzerwald . From 2005 to 2009 he attended the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium in Egg , where he with distinction graduated . He then did community service in a refugee home in Bezau and in 2010 began the two bachelor's degrees in economics and political science at the University of Vienna . At the same time, in connection with the move to Vienna, Gasser announced his homosexuality when his family came out .

After the National Council election in Austria in 2013 , in which NEOS succeeded in entering the National Council for the first time , Johannes Gasser became a member of the parliament of the Vorarlberg NEOS National Council member Gerald Loacker in 2013 . In 2014 he completed his two bachelor’s studies at the University of Vienna, and in 2015 he became a social policy advisor with a focus on social, family and equality policy in the NEOS parliamentary club. From 2017 to 2018 graduated from John Gasser a master's degree in "Economic policy" ( Economic Policy ) at the Dutch University of Utrecht .

In 2018, Johannes Gasser applied for a place on the list for the 2019 state election in the party-internal area code of NEOS Vorarlberg and was ultimately elected to second place on the state list. Through this he finally managed to move into the election on October 13th, after NEOS was able to achieve one more mandate than in 2014 with slight gains. Johannes Gasser is one of three members of the NEOS Landtag Club in the Landtag for the 31st legislative period .
