Daniel Allgäuer (born August 30, 1964 in Feldkirch ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and farmer. Allgäuer has been a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament since 2009 and was club chairman of the FPÖ parliamentary group there from 2016 to 2019.

Education and personal life

Daniel Allgäuer was born on August 30, 1964 in Feldkirch as the son of the farmer Josef Allgäuer and his wife Luise. He attended elementary and secondary school in Feldkirch before moving to the Hohenems Agricultural School , where he completed his training as a skilled agricultural worker in 1981. In 1985 he also obtained the master's degree in agriculture.

Political career

Daniel Allgäuer has been a party member of the FPÖ Vorarlberg and chairman of the free and independent farmers in Vorarlberg, the FPÖ interest group for farmers, since 2000. In March 2001 he was elected to the Chamber Council of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Agriculture . On May 24, 2005 he was sworn in for the first time as a member of the city ​​council of his hometown Feldkirch, where he was city party chairman of the FPÖ until March 2009 and has since acted as deputy city party chairman. Allgäuer also holds other internal party functions. Since 2000 he has been a member of the state party leadership, since October 11, 2002 a member of the state party executive, since March 2006 district party chairman in the Feldkirch district and since March 24, 2006 both deputy state party chairman and member of the state party presidency .

In the state elections in Vorarlberg in 2009 Daniel Allgäuer was elected to the legislative body of the state of Vorarlberg for the first time and was sworn in as a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament on October 14, 2009. He currently holds the position of area spokesman for agriculture and control at the Freedom State Parliament Club and is chairman of the State Parliament’s Control Committee. After Dieter Egger was sworn in as mayor of Hohenems on December 23, 2015 , Allgäuer also took over the office of chairman of the FPÖ state parliament club on an interim basis on the same day. On January 11, 2015, the other state parliament members of the FPÖ unanimously voted him club chairman.

In the 2019 state election , Allgäuer was re-elected to the Vorarlberg state parliament, but after the election he handed over the office of club chairman of the FPÖ state parliament club to the new party chairman Christof Bitschi and became deputy club chairman. In the municipal council and mayoral elections in Vorarlberg 2020 , he is running as the top candidate for the Freedom Party in Feldkirch.

Private life

Allgäuer has been married to his wife Reinelde since September 10, 1987 and they have four sons together. He lives with his family in Feldkirch and worked full-time as a farmer and in the regional product trade. In 2015 he passed the farm on to two of his sons.
