Veronika Marte (born February 21, 1982 in Feldkirch ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and teacher . She works full-time as a special education teacher and politically as deputy of the ÖVP federal party chairman Sebastian Kurz , since 2019 as a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament and since 2016 as a city ​​councilor in Bregenz .

Education and professional career

Veronika Marte grew up in Bregenz . She attended the Augasse elementary school, the Sacré Coeur Riedenburg and graduated from the BORG Lauterach . She then studied for a year Jurisprudence in Vienna , but returned to Vorarlberg back and completed the BHAK -Reifeprüfung in Bregenz. Then she trained as a primary school teacher at the Vorarlberg University of Education . She has been working at the pedagogical support center in Feldkirch and in the general special school (ASO) (VS Unterfeld with an attached special educational center) in Lauterach since 2008 .

Political career

Her political career began in 2008 in the Young People's Party (JVP). She became chairwoman of the JVP Bregenz and deputy to the JVP regional chairman in Vorarlberg. She has been a member of the Bregenz city council since 2010 and city councilor since May 2016. In 2012 she became chairwoman of the Vorarlberger Familienbund and since July 2017 she has been the deputy chairwoman of the ÖVP under Sebastian Kurz .

On March 14, 2019, the Vorarlberg People's Party announced that Veronika Marte would succeed the resigned state parliament member Matthias Kucera . Since her inauguration in the state parliament session on April 3, 2019, Veronika Marte has been a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament for the Bregenz constituency . In the state elections on October 13, 2019 , Marte was re-elected to the state parliament in the Bregenz electoral district and is now a member of the 31st legislative period .
