Manfred Dörler

Manfred Dörler (born December 27, 1941 in Bregenz , † July 15, 2004 in Hard ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 1989 until his death he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament and has been president of the state parliament since 1999 .

education and profession

Manfred Dörler was born on December 27, 1941 as the son of Bernhard Dörler's local treasurer and his wife Josefine in the Vorarlberg state capital Bregenz . He then grew up in his home town of Hard on the shore of Lake Constance in Vorarlberg . In his home town he first attended elementary and secondary school before he switched to the Bregenz Commercial Academy , which he graduated from in 1959 with a high school diploma.

From 1959 to 1977 he worked initially as an employee and later as an authorized signatory at the Künz machine factory in Hard. From 1977 Manfred Dörler was employed as managing director at the Institute for Social Services (IfS). Dörler only stopped his professional activity in the private sector when he was elected club chairman of the ÖVP parliamentary group in March 1997 .

Political career

In 1975 Manfred Dörler became politically active for the first time when he was elected to the local council of his home community for the ÖVP Vorarlberg . From then on, he was chairman of the school committee in the Harder municipal council until 1980, member of the social committee from 1980 to 1995 and chairman of the environmental committee from 1985 to 1990.

Manfred Dörler was elected for the first time in the Vorarlberg state parliament in the state elections on October 8, 1989 , which is why he was sworn in as a member of the state parliament for the first time on November 22, 1989. In this election he was one of the People's Party's successor candidates, who got a chance when Governor Herbert Sausgruber waived his mandate . In his second election to the state parliament, he also replaced a member of the state government, state councilor Erich Schwärzler , on his mandate. From April 2, 1997 to October 3, 1999, he held the position of ÖVP club chairman in the state parliament, after which he was elected President of the State Parliament in the constituent session of the 27th Vorarlberg State Parliament on October 5, 1999, which he did until his death stayed on July 15, 2004.

Since June 17, 1998 Dörler was also chairman of the supervisory board of the Vorarlberg non-profit housing construction and settlement company . Within the Vorarlberg People's Party , Dörler had been regional chairman of the ÖAAB Vorarlberg and regional party chairman from 1992 until his death .

Private life

Dörler had been married to Johanna Köstenbauer since September 25, 1965, with whom he had two daughters and a son.
