Josef Gohm

Josef Gohm (born March 20, 1906 in Feldkirch ; † February 7, 1983 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( VdU / FPÖ ) and entrepreneur. From 1949 to 1959 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament and from 1949 to 1954 its second vice-president.

education and profession

After elementary school in Feldkirch, Gohm graduated from Feldkirch's high school Stella Matutina in 1916, where he graduated from high school in 1924 . He then studied for two semesters at the University of World Trade in Vienna and in 1925 switched to studying technical chemistry at the Technical University of Stuttgart . He completed his basic studies in Stuttgart in 1930 with the academic degree Dipl.-Ing. and after completing his dissertation in Stuttgart, he received his doctorate in 1932 as Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Gohm worked professionally between 1934 and 1937 as a company chemist for the Vacuum Oil Company in Vienna before he founded a company for mineral oil trading in 1937. In 1938 he ended his independence and was active for NOVA Mineralöl-AG Vienna until 1939. After his military service between August 1939 and December 1939, he worked as a chemist for the Benzol Association in Bochum until March 1941 , after which he was operator of the Vösendorf refinery until May 1945 .

After the war, Gohm started his own business in the mineral oil trade again between 1945 and 1956, after which he was employed as a refinery manager at ÖMV in Vienna from October 1956 to March 1957. After working in his own company again in 1957, he was director of Sika-Plastiment in Bludenz for two and a half years in 1958. From July 1960 he led a grocery and drugstore wholesale and retail trade.

politics

As early as April 25, 1933, Gohm applied for membership in the NSDAP and from 1933 was a member of the NS organization "Kampfring der Deutschösterreicher". However, he subsequently became a member of the Patriotic Front . After the "Anschluss" of Austria in March 1938, Gohm became a party member of the NSDAP on May 1, 1938, and was also a member of the German Labor Front (DAF), the National Socialist People's Welfare (NSV), the National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK) and the National Socialist Association of German Technology . After the Second World War he joined the Association of Independents in 1949, after which he became a member of the FPÖ.

Gohm was also active in professional representation after the Second World War, where he was a committee member and deputy chairman of the mineral oil trade committee of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce between 1947 and 1950. He then worked from 1950 to 1956 as deputy chairman of the trade section of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce and was also head of the Mineral Oil Trade Committee of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce from 1950 to 1956 and from 1960 to 1980.

Gohm was sworn in as a member of the state parliament on October 25, 1949, and on the same day he was elected 2nd vice president of the state parliament. He held this function until October 28, 1954 and resigned from the state parliament on October 25, 1956 by resigning from his mandate.

Private

Gohm was born the son of the businessman Josef Gohm and his wife Marianne, née Hirschbühl. He married Marianne Tauer on June 14, 1951 and had two sons and a daughter, who were born between 1952 and 1955.
