Cornelia Michalke (born April 29, 1956 in Bregenz ; born Cornelia Schneider ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ). From 2014 to 2019 she was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament . Before that, she was a member of the Austrian Federal Council from 2009 to 2014 from the state of Vorarlberg .

education and profession

Cornelia Michalke attended elementary and secondary school in her hometown of Höchst and from 1971 to 1974 the commercial academy in the state capital of Bregenz. From 1974 she went to the trade and interpreting school in St. Gallen , Switzerland . Michalke completed this in 1976 as a qualified translator. She made her first entry into professional life with a job at the international crane construction company Liebherr , where she worked from 1976 to 1985 - from 1978 to 1985 in a construction project in Algeria. In 1986 and 1987 she looked after African customers in particular for the Lauterach freight forwarder Braun. From 1987 to 1997 Michalke took a professional break to devote himself to the upbringing of her son, but then went back to work at the company Längle & Hagspiel in their sales management. From 2001 Michalke devoted himself to sales responsibility for Belgium , France , Italy , Spain and Portugal in the Lustenau company Hämmerle & Vogel .

Political career

Cornelia Michalke first became politically active in 1990 as a community representative for the FPÖ in her home community of Höchst. From 1992 to 2006 Michalke was then also a member of the Supreme Municipal Council. Within the Freedom Party, Cornelia Michalke has been a member of the district party leadership of the Bregenz district and the provincial party leadership of Vorarlberg since 1992. From 2006 to 2017 she was also deputy to the regional chairman Dieter Egger .

After the very successful state elections in Vorarlberg in 2009 , in which the FPÖ became the second largest party in the Vorarlberg state parliament , Cornelia Michalke was sent to the Federal Council by the Vorarlberg state parliament. It replaced the previous SPÖ representative Reinhold Einwallner . Michalke became a member of the Federal Council on October 14, 2009, and from November 5 of the same year he was a member of the newly founded federal parliamentary group.

After the state election in 2014 , Cornelia Michalke moved from the Federal Council to the state parliament and was sworn in as a member of the 30th Vorarlberg state parliament on October 15, 2014 . In the 2019 state election , Hagen announced in advance that he no longer wanted to run for office and would instead leave the state parliament at the end of the legislative period in October 2019.

Private

Cornelia Michalke is married, has a son and lives with her family in the Lake Constance municipality of Höchst.
