Political career

Einwallner gained his first experience in politics in 1989 as a youth officer for the SPÖ in Trofaiach , during which time he also worked in the young generation of the SPÖ in Styria. Einwallner has been a community representative in his home town of Hörbranz since 1999 , where he also took over the leadership of the social democratic faction in the community council in 2005. Einwallner has been a member of the board of the Vorarlberg Social Democratic Business Association since 2003 .

After the state elections in Vorarlberg in 2004 , Einwallner was sent to the Federal Council in Vienna by the newly elected Vorarlberg state parliament . There he was sworn in on October 5, 2004 as the new Federal Councilor. However, after the SPÖ lost three of its original six mandates in the five years following state elections and thus had to post the worst result since the Social Democratic Party was founded in Vorarlberg, the party also lost its right to send a Federal Councilor. Einwallner was therefore replaced in his function as Federal Council on October 13, 2009 by the new FPÖ Federal Councilor Cornelia Michalke . As a result, Einwallner became managing director of the SPÖ regional organization in Vorarlberg on March 1, 2010 .

After the state elections in 2014 , Reinhold Einwallner was sworn in as a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament on October 15, 2014 . Einwallner resigned this mandate on October 31, 2017 in order to accept the basic SPÖ mandate in the Vorarlberg state electoral district in the 2017 National Council election . On November 9, 2017, he was sworn in for the first time as a member of the National Council. In the course of the early National Council election in 2019 , Einwallner was nominated by the SPÖ Vorarlberg as their state's top candidate in May 2019. In the election, Einwallner succeeded again in moving into the National Council for the SPÖ via a basic mandate in the Vorarlberg regional constituency.
