Theresia Fröwis (born August 24, 1956 in Bezau ; born Theresia Kaufmann ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 2004 to 2014 she was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Theresia Fröwis was born on August 24, 1956 as the daughter of Ernst and Anna Kaufmann in the Bregenzerwald community of Bezau. She attended elementary and secondary school in Bezau and then completed a 3-year training course at the Marienberg technical college for women in business in Bregenz . She then attended an Institut français in Paris for a year and completed the one-year training as a textile merchant at the Dornbirn textile school .

Theresia Fröwis started her professional life with a three-year job in the export department of an embroidery in Altach . She then worked for four years as export manager at the Walter Natter embroidery in Lustenau . Theresia Fröwis has been a full-time co-owner of an orthopedic specialist shop in her home town of Bezau since 1982.

Political career

Fröwis has been politically active since 1984 when she joined the Austrian women's movement and the Austrian Economic Association , two sub-organizations of the Austrian People's Party . From 2000 to 2005 Theresia Fröwis was the contact person for women at community level, and since 2005 a substitute member of the Bezau community council .

After the regional elections in Vorarlberg in 2004 , Theresia Fröwis was sworn in for the first time as a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament on October 20, 2004 . She was the area spokesperson for women within the ÖVP state parliament club and was a candidate in the 2009 state elections in 16th place on the ÖVP state list. In the legislative period from 2009 to 2014, Fröwis was the ÖVP's area spokesperson for environment and development cooperation as well as social affairs, and chairwoman of the environmental committee in the state parliament. After the state election in 2014 , in the run-up to which Fröwis had already announced that she would not run again, she left the state parliament on October 15, 2014 when the new state parliament members were sworn in.

Private life

Theresia Fröwis has been married to Georg Fröwis since 1982 and is the mother of four sons (* 1983, 1985, 1987 and 1989). She lives in Bezau .

In her free time, Theresia Fröwis is particularly involved in the scout movement. Among other things, she was head of the Bezau scout group, from 1978 to 1982 regional director of the Vorarlberg scouts, from 1982 to 2000 vice-president of the Vorarlberg scouts and has been a member of the Vorarlberg scouts executive committee since 2000. Until 1982 she was also a member of the state youth council for the boy scouts.
