Josef Pichler (composer)
Father Josef Pichler OSFS (* 1958 in Eferding , Upper Austria ) is a composer and lyricist of new sacred songs . As a religious priest, he belongs to the Oblate Community of St. Francis de Sales .
Life
Pichler, who in 1978 at the Oblates of St. Franz von Sales entered and, after studying theology in Eichstätt and Vienna, first worked as a deacon in Ingolstadt and then as a chaplain in Vienna-Favoriten, wrote his first songs and chansons in 1985. Since 1987 he has produced a total of ten LPs / MCs and CDs as well as eight song books.
In addition to his work as a musician, Pichler worked for many years as a pastor and pilgrimage chaplain at the Pöstlingberg pilgrimage church near Linz . Today he works as a nursing home chaplain in the parish of Riedberg / Ried (Diocese of Linz).
