Chen Xiaomin

Chen Xiaomin ( Chinese  陳小敏  /  陈小敏 , Pinyin Chén Xiǎomǐn , born February 7, 1977 ) is a former Chinese weightlifter .

Career

Chen Xiaomin comes from Heshan in the province of Guangdong . She started lifting weights in 1989 at the age of twelve. In 1991 she made the leap into the provincial selection of Guangdong and 1992 in the Chinese national team. The 1.58 m tall athlete became Chinese champion in 1993 at the age of 16 and world champion in Melbourne . She remained undefeated at all starts until 1997. In 1998 and 1999 she took it easy, but celebrated the greatest success of her career to date with the Olympic victory in Sydney in 2000 .

Chen graduated from Guangdong Business College with a law degree.

  • 1997, 1st place , Asian championship, up to 64 kg body weight, with 237.5 kg;
  • 2000, 1st place , Asian Games in Osaka , up to 69 kg body weight, with 235 kg;
  • 2000, gold medal , OS in Sydney, up to 63 kg body weight, with 242.5 kg, ahead of Walentina Popowa , Russia , 235 kg and Ioanna Chatzioannou, Greece, 222.5 kg
