Josef Reich

Josef Reich (born June 22, 1918 in Vienna ; † March 16, 2006 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and health insurance employee. From 1953 to 1968 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

After primary school, Reich attended two classes at a secondary school and then switched to a grammar school. However, he left school there in 5th grade. Professionally, Reich worked as a health insurance employee, after which he became an intern and subsequently a librarian at the city of Vienna's labor libraries. After the Second World War, he was appointed to the board of the Vienna Regional Health Insurance Fund and to a councilor in 1949. After 1945, Reich became politically active as district party secretary of the ÖVP and within the party held the function of a member of the ÖVP state party leadership in Vienna. He was also a member of the federal board of the ÖAAB, from 1947 State Secretary of the ÖAAB Vienna and from 1949 Chamber Council of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Vienna. Reich represented the ÖVP between March 18, 1953 and January 16, 1968 in the National Council.
