Josef Rusnak (diplomat)
Josef Rusnak (born March 17, 1936 in Unter-Turz, died June 20, 2014) was a German diplomat. Most recently he was the German ambassador to Paraguay.
Life
During Rusnak's term of office as ambassador to Managua, eight German citizens were kidnapped by the Contra in the administrative district of Nicaragua on May 17th, Whit Saturday 1986, from the village of Jacinto Baca . To draw attention to the situation, the German embassy in Managua was occupied by around 70 German citizens on May 19 and 20, 1986. The occupiers met Rusnak and the first secretary Günter Rudolf Knieß . Hans-Jürgen Wischnewski was involved in the negotiations for the release of the abductees .
He was a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Thuringia Würzburg .
