Josef Schlager

Josef Schlager (born February 20, 1918 in Pöls ; † January 12, 1987 there ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and a member of the National Council from 1966 to 1983 .

After completing compulsory school, Schlager attended a commercial vocational school and was then initially employed as a commercial employee. He then moved to Pöls as a municipal clerk and subsequently became head of the finance department and later head of the construction department and the registry office. He was given the professional title of Amtsrat.

Schlager began his political career in 1949 as the local party chairman of the SPÖ Pöls and in 1955 became a councilor and financial officer for the community. Between 1961 and 1966 he was a member of the Styrian Landtag and switched to the National Council on March 30, 1966, to which he was a member until May 18, 1983. Within the party, Schlager was also active as the SPÖ district education and propaganda officer for the Upper Murtal from 1951, acted as district party chairman of the SPÖ Knittelfeld, Judenburg and Murau and was a member of the regional party representation of the SPÖ Styria. In addition, he was active in the consumer cooperative from 1948 and subsequently held the office of Vice President of the Supervisory Board of Konsum Austria .
