Karl Bernatz
Karl Bernatz (born May 21, 1831 in Straubing ; † January 16, 1898 in Munich ) was a German architect and Bavarian construction clerk .
The son of the hydrotechnician Matthäus Bernatz studied at the Munich Art Academy with Georg Friedrich Ziebland .
He entered the civil service as a saltworks official at the Reichenhall saltworks .
After study trips in 1864/1865 to Italy, France and 1867 to the Rhineland, he came to Augsburg as a building clerk , where he directed the execution of the palace of justice there and built the new three-aisled pillar basilica in neighboring Friedberg from 1871–1873 .
He was a government and district building officer in Ansbach for a long time . In 1883 he was appointed to Munich and in 1887 as senior building officer in the State Ministry of the Interior.
