Josef Schmitz-Helbig

Josef Schmitz-Helbig (born August 10, 1921 in Frechen ; † June 3, 2008 there ) was a German architect . He worked mainly in the Cologne area . His work included both sacred and secular buildings.

In 1962 he founded the Frechen Art Association , which he chaired for many years. The graphics biennial - later the triennial - of the Frechner Kunstverein enjoys an international reputation. Schmitz-Helbig himself occupied himself a lot with architectural drawings in his free time. He was also a patron of music. He is the winner of the Rheinlandtaler Musik.
