Josef Schrefel

Josef Schrefel (born February 11, 1945 in Göstling an der Ybbs ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. Schrefel was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1994 to 1999 .

Schrefel attended the elementary school in Göstling between 1951 and 1955 and then the local secondary school until 1959. He then graduated from the agricultural and forestry vocational school from 1959 to 1962 and the agricultural college from 1962 to 1965. He did military service in 1965 and worked as a farmer from 1971. Together with his wife, he runs the Ort farm in Lassing and was also active as regional chamber councilor and regional chairman of the Lower Austrian alpine and pasture management. He was also chairman of the Ybbstal machine ring and the Göstling district heating cooperative. He was awarded the professional title of Economics Council.

Schrefel was politically active as a local councilor in Göstling between 1980 and 2005, and between 1985 and 1995 he was an executive councilor in Göstling. In 1980 he was elected local party chairman of the ÖVP Göstling and from 1980 also worked as district farmer council chairman of Gaming. Schrefel represented the ÖVP in the National Council from November 7, 1994 to October 28, 1999, and resigned from the National Council in 1999 after he was ranked lower in the list of the Lower Austrian ÖVP.
